If I post a link, a long url appears, then I edit it so that the url is no longer short. Sometimes you copy a long URL but it does not become short. The link I am putting here

URLs in messages are truncated beyond 35 characters when rendered. The editor will display the full URL in any case.

I cannot reproduce this, and it looks like that link contains non-core markup. Do you have add-ons that might interfere (ie. for media embeds or affiliate links)? Can you reproduce the issue with add-ons disabled and a default style in a new post?
