Strange issue, seeking advice and troubleshooting options.
Forum size: Large forum, almost 25M posts. Dedicated server. No cloud.
Caching: Aggressive Redis with Xon's addons. Have tried turning On/Off completely, default redis setting and even file caching same issue as below.
Images: Served locally with image proxy.
Issue: When guests that have 3-party cookies turned OFF and visit site, the server bogs down for up to 30 seconds while avatars are loading on the main page. Same avatars are always slow to load during this time regardless of browser desktop/mobile. Is loading different for guests!? Once user is logged in, images/content served up instantly. Turning off ALL addons has no affect.
Replication: If users allow 3-party cookies in thier Brave/Vivaldi/FireFox browser, site is instant for guests. Turn off, issue above.
Issue started about 2 months ago. There were no changes at that time. Since then we have updated to latest version and all our addons are up-to-date.
Issue persists.
Any ideas?
