Recent Activity Doesnt Display New members?

I've been looking at the "Recent Activity" page, and noticed that it doesnt include new members joined.

Another point, when on a users profile, I cant seem to find the option to start a conversation.

Newly joined members are not included in the stream.

Click on the Information tab and the option to start a conversation is at the bottom.

Alternatively you can just click on their avatar to open the member card and the link is there also.

Or, you can just enter the member's name directly when starting a new conversation.

Is there someplace that displays the last "X" amount of members? I'd like to make sure that I welcome each one of them and need to be sure that I don't miss any
