XF 2.1 nodes and navigation questions

Under Public Navigation in the ACP, I can click add navigation and define a basic link to domain.com/tags/ but what would I need to put in the display condition field to ensure the link is only shown to user groups that have permission to use the search function?

When I'm creating a page node, there are a couple of settings that are (for me) confusing. What do the Parent Node, Display in the node list and Navigation Section fields do exactly? It doesn't really seem to matter what I select for those fields. Where is the node list that the display check box refers to? Do any of these fields affect the breadcrumb navigation links/hierarchy?

Display in the node list refers to it being listed on the forum index.

The Navigation section option refers to the highlighted tab when on that page.

Thanks. I think I'm getting it now.

If I open the stock Terms and Conditions or Privacy Policy pages, there is a menu block on the left hand side of the page. Is this a menu widget that is available for us to use in our own page nodes?
