For example, when we search a phrase/recent posts in one's profile, we have 10 pages, so scrolling down with a mouse or a smartphone would load the next page automatically.

This can also be integrated in threads, although I think that massive threads with lots of pictures and videos would have negative effect on performance.

You can stop whenever you want. It's not convenient going through pages and press "search again" or "find more pages" every 10 pages or so.

Infinite scrolling is that, infinite. A proper implementation will always continue until you reach the end or navigate away. It also involves scrolling the pages again unless history manipulation is used to insert each page into it. I've written several implementations at my job and I hate every single one. I'd rather load pages than scroll since it removed valuable footer space as well.
