Try asking Microsoft when Windows 11 is coming, or RedHat when the latest release is coming... quite often you won't get an answer until things are at such an advanced stage aren't far from launching.

One of the developers could probably explain product lifecycles to give people a better idea why deadlines aren't always possible.

Pre Production > Alpha > Alpha 1 > Beta > Beta RC > Release (or something like that).

Actually you can, both software does product life cycle so businesses understand approximately when a new version will be due and therefore you can plan your infrastructure, staffs and the works accordingly.

For Microsoft for instance I believe this is once every 4 years. So you know as a business that you should be ready to test, deploy and so on in about 4 years time. Still not an exact date but it's something that a business can work with at least.
