How to protect your forums from malware or viruses?

What are the best ways that you are applying to protect your forums from malware or viruses?
I am considering to buy and install a service like this (ModSecurity Rules from Malware.Expert) on my WHM/cPanel to keep my websites against malware or viruses. What is your experience with them? or you can share your methods to against malware or hackers for your forums/sites or blogs?

If you have cPanel, you have access to cPHulk for Brute Force Protection, which you can use in tandem with
ConfigServer Security & Firewall for additional protection against brute force and hacking attempts. Both are free addons to cPanel.

You also have ClamAV Scanner, another free add-on, to automatically scan and clean any viruses or malware that might make it onto the server.
