I have a feeling that having a video play within a forum thread, in a small player - may not count as a play in the stats over on YouTube....
I am seeking clarity..on this - does anyone know for certain?
What is the best way to embed a video in a thread and have its views count over on YouTube?
A the moment the thread views (containing the embedded video) are high and the YouTube views are very low.
Thanks

There are a few scenarios where a view of an embedded YouTube video might not be counted by YouTube, despite the video being played. Here are some possibilities:
1. Too Short of a View:
• YouTube only counts views if the viewer watches the video for a significant amount of time. For most videos, this means the viewer needs to watch at least 30 seconds for it to count as a view. If someone skips the video almost immediately, it might not be counted.
2. Autoplay Views:
• If the embedded video is set to autoplay and the viewer does not actively start the video themselves (or if it's played in the background), it may not count as a view. YouTube typically counts only views where users have shown intent to watch.
3. Video Played in Background or in Minimized Player:
• If the video is played in the background or in a minimized player (for example, in an embedded format that allows audio or video playback without full interaction), YouTube might not count it as a valid view.
4. Embedded on Non-Standard Platforms or Sites:
• If the video is embedded on a site that manipulates or restricts YouTube's tracking mechanisms (like certain ad blockers, script blockers, or custom players), YouTube might not register the view. Some sites or configurations may block YouTube's tracking cookies or scripts, preventing the view from being counted.
5. Bot or Invalid Traffic:
• If YouTube detects that the views are coming from bots, automated scripts, or other forms of invalid traffic, it will disregard these views. For example, if a video is embedded in a way that generates fake or automated views, YouTube's system might flag and ignore them.
6. Viewer's Browser/Device Issues:
7. Embed Restrictions:
• The video owner may set restrictions on how the video can be shared or embedded. For instance, the video might be disabled from being embedded on certain domains, or the embed might be locked to only allow viewing through YouTube directly, preventing the view from being counted on external sites.
8. Unfinished or Interrupted Playback:
• If the video is interrupted (e.g., the user closes the browser or navigates away before it completes the threshold for a valid view), that session might not count as a view.
If you're seeing discrepancies in views from an embedded video, it's likely due to one or more of these factors.

6. Viewer's Browser/Device Issues:
- If there is an issue with the viewer's browser (such as cookies being disabled or privacy settings blocking data collection), YouTube might not be able to track the view properly.
- Some users may disable JavaScript or use privacy-focused tools (like VPNs or proxies) that can affect view tracking.
7. Embed Restrictions:
• The video owner may set restrictions on how the video can be shared or embedded. For instance, the video might be disabled from being embedded on certain domains, or the embed might be locked to only allow viewing through YouTube directly, preventing the view from being counted on external sites.
