XF 2.3 How to add new posts widget to a page, and have the filter bar?

I've added new posts widget to a page

<xf:widget key="whats_new_new_posts" />

but there is no filter bar.

Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong, how to add the filter bar?

The widget doesn't have a filter bar. The full new posts page (/whats-new/posts/) is distinct from the widget.

No, the widget does not support filters. Since widgets can be placed anywhere, the queries need to be kept relatively simple.
