How resource intensive is the attachment system?

As some of you know, I wrote a slider block for XenPorta that uses the attachment system.

The slider uses the attachment system for images... example:
http://8wayrun.com/attachments/slide-jpg.7908/

Looking at my server resources, I'm noticing the majority of them is going to fetch these slide-jpg images. So my question is, how resource intensive is fetching attachments in XenForo?

Hmmm, I'd like to know this as well. Maybe there is a breakdown somewhere that shows what resources Xenforo needs for each process?
