How do I remove that gap and the home link there?

Depending on your custom style, look for

AdminCP >> Appearance >> Style properties >> Node/forum list >> Hide breadcrumb on forum list

or something similar.

If you remove the breadcrumb, that gap should disappear.

That's specific to our styles, don't believe they're running it.

The gap is a bit tricky to get rid of, hiding the breadcrumb on the forum page is one option. But you'll always see a little gap on other pages just like on XF.
