I didn't want to derail the XF 2.4 thread anymore, so I'm posting here for added context on my gripe and journey with GIPHY.
That said, I've come to terms with GIPHY ... for the members.
My frustration with it was that it was overused without any other content when it was hyped (every reply only a GIF, especially on Facebook). I see it being used more in conjunction with content over being a standalone reply, so it has (de)evolved.
The second issue was a 1st development key rejection using XFs videos and images from this Article.
The 2nd rejection was most likely not showing the tooltip over the image because the screen capture didn't get it in time.
But, I got it the 3rd time showing it in use on my forum that I applied for with a video capture of inserting the GIF and posting it and the attribution of the GIF on my forum, not the attached XF examples above.
So, I think they might've updated their approval process and require it being seen on the domain that you're requesting it for and the video demonstration provided by [USER=11388]@Chris D[/USER] may no longer get you an approval.
