Featured Threads Image Pixelated

I'm not sure if this is actually a bug, or should be considered a suggestion, but I'm leaning more towards it being a bug because it doesn't seem like this would be the intended behavior for most people.

If you feature a thread with an attachment, and don't upload an alternate featured image, guests who view the featured widget are shown an enlarged thumbnail, which displays as a pixelated image. I'm not sure this is a desired behavior for anyone, and it's not immediately noticeable to most people because if you're logged in you're shown the full attachment.

Here's what I see when I'm logged in:

test.webp

and if I'm browsing as a guest:

test-pixelated.webp

Obviously this is much more noticeable on some images, but I think it illustrates the point just fine. I usually end up just uploading the image again as a featured image, but that seems a bit silly considering the image is already on the server and just needs to be served in full, rather than as a thumbnail.

The unregistered user group would need to have the view attachment permissions to see the attached image in the post, otherwise they only get served the thumbnail.

Yeah, I knew why it was happening that way...I was trying to say that if the image is being used as the image in a featured widget, that probably shouldn't be the case. Especially for folks who are using widgets on a home page, or any other main content discovery pages, it seems a bit silly to have pixelated images "featured".
