The guise for this type of move is members can spam each other or target other members. Of course those possibilities exist. But this type of unmitigated surveillance is beyond expected measures.

There should be a clear warning to all members that the admins read ALL messages. Otherwise I would add a "permanent" message member called admin, so members know when they message other members they are also messaging staff.

The pandora's box is members will BE super pissed when it is clear staff are reading their messages without their permission. Bye bye member.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. I don't think that something like this will come as a surprise for users. Direct messages are stored in plain text and admins can read them in the relevant tables at any time.

The information sharing message should be customizable to each site.
It's not mandatory. That said, this is something that can be decided on an individual basis imo by the admins if they want to put up a notice like that on their forums.

It will, as the average user has no idea what a table is (other than sitting at it during meals) or what plain text may be if not swearing. Most users have no technical background and consider private messages, well, private (no matter if PN is framed as personal message and not private message).

Personally I would see this addon as massive privacy violation as it makes it very easy to read those conversations and it violates the privacy of all users while only a few may be a problem.

"Direct messages are stored in plain text" as a reply as to why members using direct messaging has ZERO privacy.

The idea you think it's a good idea to make a nominal fee for an addon that is a MASSIVE privacy issue is naive.

This addon gives Social Media a good name.
