XF 2.1 Collapse forum (default off) ?

I have an "archives" forum with subforms for each year since the early 2000's. Is there a way to prevent it from showing all those subforms when one enters onto the main page?

If they are set as sub-forums then you have three options in the style properties.

Correct! The "Archives" actually acts as a "category" on VB. Then there are 15+ forums for each year. I want the sub-forums to be "hidden" by default and allow the user to switch it on if they want.

I'm new to XF (transitioning from VB now), so the word "node" is confusing to me. I'm still trying to wrap my head around what a node really is versus "category", "forum" and "subforum".

A node is the generic term for category, forum, page, and link forum.

They are all nodes, just different types.

So my question is can I have the "Archives" category not collapse by default? I have 18 sub-forums since 2003 Currently the switch is "on" but I don't know how to make it "off" by default.

XF doesn't have a built in collapse function so presumably that is from an add-on?
