XF 2.2 Character encoding issue after import from vBulletin 3.x

After recently importing from vBulletin 3.x there are several posts that show ascii codes instead of characters, for example: ” ’ Â

Is there any way to fix this after the fact? A database search and replace maybe?

The import took 2 days, so redoing it is not an option. If there's no fix after the fact, then I'll just leave it alone.

For vanilla find and replace though, you can just use a query:

UPDATE xf_post SET message = REPLACE(message, 'original_content', 'new_content');

And for conversations:

UPDATE xf_conversation_message SET message = REPLACE(message, 'original_content', 'new_content');
