We have recently added nofollow to our branding link for the styles we offer, this hasn't rolled out yet but will in the next update. But in the meantime we have not noticed any ill effect from it, that we can tell anyhow.
Currently sitting at PR 4 for a 2 year old domain.

I am already using on of your themes Zipped! But I purchased branding removal I will be happy to look into more of your products as soon as I learn basics of XF. Thanks clarification about the influence of links on your own domain.
I checked your domain on ahref and you seam to have around 6.300.000 links, not sure if that´s good though
