XF 2.3 brand new users over-quoting - change reply with quote button on last post

I notice brand new members are more frequently over-quoting now, quoting the last post in full above their reply which creates a duplication when reading the thread.

It is a bit distracting/confusing when it's a quote of the very last post above the reply.

Is it possible to modify the "Quote with Reply" button on the last post in the thread to separate it to a "Quote" (reply with quote) button and a "Reply" (just reply, no quote) button on the last post?

Thanks for pointing that out. Unfortunately, it has become the norm for many replies to no longer specifically address the “quote.” Convenience - or rather, social media platforms like “WA” and others - play a role in this ...under the motto “I'll just reply for now.”

Fact: This significantly dilutes the actual search term.

I think members are gonna do what they do. You would have to hide the reply button on every single post and just have member use the quick reply box at the bottom but then that will have issues as well.

Yes, separating the buttons like that is what I'm thinking on the last post.

I don't want to remove the Quote with Reply button from all posts, because it serves a purpose if a member is replying to a post from up further in the thread, where what they are replying to is out of view and not clear. I think when a new member is replying to the very last post though when they Quote with Reply it is almost always very redundant, and it looks odd to read the post and the quote of the post right next to eachother.

caveat: On a really active forum, this could be undesirable, if you need to identify which post is being replied to. On my forums, I think it would improve the readability of the thread.
