Batch updated threads, select all between 1/1/2000 and 12/31/2024, did it node by node. Selected "Lock Threads" and pressed the button to "Update Threads."
All seemed to lock as expected. However, some number of threads were were also updated to "featured." And shown as featured (we had to go 1 by 1 and un-feature to remove)
I have no history to tell if these were featured at some point in the past, but given the content of those that were "featured" it is likely that they were featured at some point in the past.

Thank you for reporting this issue. In the current code, locking threads through a batch update does not change their featured status. Featured threads also do not exist in 2.2 without an add-on. We need a little more detail to look into this.

  • Which exact XenForo version were you running when this happened? Featured threads only exist in core XenForo from 2.3 onwards.
  • Which add-ons were installed and enabled, especially any that provide featured threads or change batch updates?
  • On the update screen, are you sure only 'Lock threads' was ticked, and not also 'Feature threads'?
  • Were the threads that became featured already listed as featured before the batch update, for example on the What's new or featured content pages, or are you only inferring that from their content?
