Analytics Software Alternatives for GA

We were using Google Analytics on our forum. But now, we have some Chinese visitors as well, which makes Google Analytics absolute.

So, I would love some suggestions on which analytics software (preferably open-source) would work the best. What are you using for your forums, and what are the pros and cons? Would really appreciate the help!

Yes, self hosted. The requirements Matomo mentions are quite...hefty. We use a simple VM with 2 cores and 12GB of memory.

About 7mln pageviews a month.

Why Chinese visitors make GA obsolete?
I have plenty of members coming from CN and GA tracks it just fine.

Because Google is banned in China (as we understand it). Our Chinese friends highly advised removing all Google products and fonts from our forums if we wanted to return to this market (years ago Chinese traffic was almost 1/2 of the most valuable traffic for us).

Open source, works great. I use it myself for many years on my big board.
Self-hosted? Got specs on your server and metrics?
The server shouldn't be a bottleneck here. Got ourselves a bulky server:
Intel Xeon W-2145
4 x 32 Gigs of DDR4 RAM

Yes, the resources are shared between other Xenforo and other apps, but should be enough, right?
Or do we need separate servers for DB and Backend, like the document states?

The only thing we are looking for is good statistics.
Try Umami hosted via Pikapods:
This is also a name I hear more often. Could someone explain to me the benefits or disadvantages of using a certain Analytics Software? Your experiences, please :)
