When a member A quotes the post of member B they get an alert and email, because this is useful for member B.
But when a member A posts a link to the post or thread of member B, then the latter does not receive an alert or email.
Since we have unfurl, the linked post is displayed in the post of member A. There is not much difference between linking and quoting. Member have switched from quoting to linking because its just easier to do. And it looks better. Even reactions are included.
It would make sense to also alert member B that their content is linked to. It would be useful for member B to know this and have the opportunity to reply. Its also good to send them an email notification as this may be reason for the member to visit the forum and participate.
