On Patreon there is one feature that I find very informative: Welcome Survey and Exit Survey.
After members upgrade their account they receive a survey to ask why they purchased the account upgrade. They can select a reason and add a comment. This gives useful insights about why members are purchasing an account upgrade.
When members with an account upgrade cancel their subscription, they are asked to fill in the reason for cancelling the subscription. They can select a reason and an optional text field to further explain. In the backend you can see an overview of cancellations and the reasons. This is mighty interesting feedback and can give unexpected clues on what to improve on your website to increase account upgrades. In my experience some of the reasons members give are easy to fix. I suggest similar functionality for XenForo:
- Show a Survey page or modal to members that have purchased or cancelled an account upgrade.
- Send an email notification.
- Let users select a drop-down and optionally fill in a text field.
- Display the top reasons for joining/cancelling in admincp
- Display a list of latest new account upgrades and feedback for joining in admincp.
- Display a list of latest cancellations and feedback for cancelling in admincp.
- Allow us to add/remove reasons from the Survey drop-downs.
- Settings on when/if to display account upgrade Surveys and email notify.
