A user who has permissions to delete their own media can go to the list of all their items (Your media) and from there tick the section boxes in top left of each item as necessary. (They then choose action from dropdown at bottom of page)
However if they click inside one of their albums, they cannot tick the media items as selected.
The workaround is to give them moderator permission Use inline moderation on media items
They can then select from within an album BUT this is confusing because they can then tick anyone else's media and also get the action dropdown, even though they can not delete.
So although this workaround does sort of work on their own albums, it seems wrong and confusing.
Ideally tick boxes to for those with permission to delete own media would work inside an album as it does on the media item list.
