Local Account Deletion​

Local Account Deletion adds a production-ready account deletion workflow to XenForo. Instead of instantly destroying a user account and breaking public content, it places the account into a controlled recovery period, hides the public profile, anonymizes supported public ownership records, and allows the user to restore the account within the configured grace period.

This is designed for real communities, marketplaces, resource platforms, and commercial XenForo installations where account deletion must be safe, reversible, auditable, and compatible with existing content.

What it does​

When a user requests account deletion:

• The account enters a reversible deletion state.
• The public profile is hidden from members and guests.
• The user is disabled during the recovery period.
• Forum threads and posts remain available, but public ownership is anonymized.
• XFRM resources remain available, but ownership is anonymized.
• Supported marketplace content remains visible without exposing the deleted account.
• Reactions from the deleted account are hidden from public reaction lists.
• Financial, license, wallet, order, and audit-related records can be protected from unsafe deletion.
• The user can restore the account by logging in again within the recovery period.

Recovery-first deletion flow​

The add-on uses a controlled grace-period model. By default, the user has 30 days to recover the account. During this time, the account is not publicly accessible, but restoration remains possible.

If the user logs in during the recovery period, they are sent to a dedicated restore screen. After confirmation, the account is reactivated and anonymized ownership records are restored in the background.

Public content stays available​

Content is not deleted just because the account enters the deletion process. This prevents broken discussions, missing resource pages, damaged marketplace listings, and inconsistent public pages.

Supported public content is reassigned to an anonymous display name while the deletion request is pending. If the account is restored, ownership is restored through the internal mapping system.

Built for marketplaces and serious communities​

The add-on includes blocker support for cases where account deletion should not continue immediately, such as:

• Open marketplace obligations
• Pending or disputed orders
• Wallet balances or active holds
• Licenses, payments, or records that must remain auditable

This makes the deletion flow safer for commercial communities where user accounts may be connected to transactions or seller activity.
