Eggy Swarm
Survive. Evolve. Progress. Compete.
A full browser-based survival game built directly into XenForo, featuring fast arena combat, story campaigns, persistent progression, challenges, achievements, multiplayer, competitive leaderboards, and mobile-friendly gameplay designed to work smoothly across desktop, tablet and phone.
What is Eggy Swarm?
Eggy Swarm turns your XenForo community into a persistent game world.
Players choose their fighter, enter an arena and battle increasingly dangerous enemies while building their character during each run with weapons, passive upgrades and powerful evolutions.
But Swarm is much more than a single survival mode.
Progress continues outside individual runs through permanent upgrades, achievements, challenges, unlockable content, leaderboards, story progression, the Swarm Shop and detailed player statistics.
Whether members want a quick run, a leaderboard challenge, a story campaign or realtime multiplayer, Swarm gives them a reason to keep coming back.
Multiple Game Modes
Eggy Swarm includes several different ways to play rather than forcing every player into the same survival loop.
- Classic - the core Swarm survival experience. Build your loadout and survive increasingly dangerous enemy waves.
- Time Attack - fight against the clock and push for the strongest possible score before time runs out.
- Boss Rush - focus your build around taking down increasingly dangerous bosses.
- Gauntlet - face a structured combat challenge designed to test stronger builds and experienced players.
- Endless - keep fighting for as long as you can and see where your build finally breaks.
- Daily Swarm - a deterministic daily challenge where players compete under the same run conditions.
Different modes feed into the wider progression, statistics and leaderboard systems, giving players multiple ways to compete.
Story Mode
Swarm also includes a dedicated Story Mode for players who want more than endless arena runs.
Story Mode supports:
- Campaign based progression
- Individual chapters and encounters
- Objectives displayed directly during gameplay
- Scripted encounters
- Story specific arenas and scenarios
- Objective tracking
- Campaign difficulty selection
- Persistent story progression
Story Mode uses the same core Swarm combat engine while giving players structured goals and progression outside the standard survival modes.
Weapons, Passives and Evolutions
Every run can develop differently depending on the player's choices.
Players can build their fighter using:
- Multiple weapons
- Passive upgrades
- Weapon levels
- Weapon evolutions
- Different projectile behaviours
- Damage, cooldown, speed, range and other gameplay properties
- Build combinations designed around different play styles
Weapon Evolutions allow certain builds to develop into more powerful forms as players progress through a run.
Administrators can manage the available weapons, passives and evolutions directly from the XenForo Admin CP.
Playable Characters
Swarm supports multiple playable fighters, each selectable before entering a run.
Characters can be managed through the Admin CP and can be used throughout the wider Swarm systems including:
- Normal game modes
- Story Mode
- Statistics
- Run history
- Leaderboards
- Unlocks
- Shop content
This makes it possible to continually expand the playable roster over time.
Arenas
Players are not restricted to a single battlefield.
Swarm supports multiple arenas with their own artwork and gameplay presentation.
Arenas can be:
- Enabled or disabled
- Used across different game modes
- Unlocked through progression
- Sold through the Swarm Shop
- Referenced throughout statistics and run history
- Configured through the Admin CP
Arena names are presented cleanly to players and administrators rather than exposing internal system keys.
Enemies, Elites and Bosses
Swarm supports a full enemy system rather than a single repeating target.
The game can include:
- Standard enemies
- Different enemy behaviours
- Elite enemies
- Elite modifiers
- Boss encounters
- Different health and damage values
- Movement and attack behaviour
- Difficulty scaling
Administrators can control enemy and elite configuration directly through the Eggy Swarm Admin CP.
Difficulty System
Different difficulty levels allow communities to offer progressively harder versions of the Swarm experience.
Difficulty can affect the overall challenge while also providing a progression path for players who have already mastered easier content.
Difficulty settings are managed through the Admin CP and can be used across the supported game modes and Story Mode.
Permanent Progression
Runs may end, but player progression does not.
Eggy Swarm includes permanent progression so members always have something meaningful to work towards.
Persistent systems include:
- Permanent progression upgrades
- Player progression statistics
- Unlockable content
- Achievements
- Challenges
- Credits
- Shop purchases
- Owned and equipped items
- Story progression
- Run history
This gives Swarm long term replay value rather than making every session feel completely disconnected from the last.
Achievements
Swarm includes a dedicated achievement system that can reward players for milestones reached throughout the game.
Achievements can cover areas such as:
- Runs played
- Enemies defeated
- Bosses defeated
- Progression milestones
- Scores
- Gameplay accomplishments
Achievement unlocks can also be announced through the Swarm activity system so other members can see recent accomplishments.
Challenges
Keep players active with configurable challenges.
Swarm supports:
- Daily challenges
- Weekly challenges
- Repeatable challenges
- Progress tracking
- Reward claims
- Challenge timers
- Leaderboard integration
Challenges can be managed from the Admin CP without manually editing game files.
Competitive Leaderboards
Swarm includes database backed leaderboards covering far more than a single high score.
Leaderboard categories can include:
- Highest Score
- Longest Survival
- Enemies Killed in One Run
- Damage in One Run
- Bosses Defeated in One Run
- Lifetime Runs
- Lifetime Enemies Killed
- Lifetime Bosses Defeated
- Lifetime Wins
- Achievement Points
- Swarm Level
- Challenges Completed
- Daily Challenge Streak
- Lifetime Credits Earned
Public leaderboard availability can also be controlled through Swarm settings.
Detailed Run History
Every completed Swarm run can be recorded into a dedicated run history.
Players and administrators can review information including:
- Player
- Game mode
- Difficulty
- Fighter
- Arena
- Result
- Score
- Time
- Bosses defeated
- Completion status
Run History also includes filtering tools so large communities can quickly browse runs by player, mode, difficulty, fighter, arena and result.
Statistics
Swarm tracks activity across the game and presents it in a readable format.
Statistics include areas such as:
- Players
- Accepted runs
- Wins
- Kills
- Bosses defeated
- Damage
- Playtime
- Pending runs
- Rejected runs
- Arena activity
- Character activity
Playtime is presented as readable time rather than raw milliseconds, while arena and character statistics use their proper display names instead of internal database keys.
Swarm Shop
Eggy Swarm includes its own integrated shop system using Swarm credits.
The shop can be used for configurable content including:
- Characters
- Arenas
- Weapons
- Cosmetics
- Unlockable content
- Other administrator created shop items
Players can purchase items, build their collection and manage owned or equipped content.
Shop content is managed directly through XenForo.
Realtime Multiplayer
Eggy Swarm includes realtime multiplayer support powered by Node.js.
The multiplayer system is configurable directly from the Eggy Swarm Admin CP.
Administrators can:
- Enable or disable Multiplayer
- Configure the realtime Node.js service
- Configure connection details
- Test the realtime connection
- View connection status
If Multiplayer is disabled, the Multiplayer option is automatically hidden from the public Swarm interface.
This allows communities that do not want to run Node.js to use the rest of Swarm without exposing an unavailable multiplayer mode.
Node.js 20+ is only required when Multiplayer is enabled.
Extensive XenForo Admin CP Integration
Swarm has been designed to be managed through XenForo rather than requiring administrators to edit game files manually.
Dedicated Eggy Swarm Admin CP areas cover systems including:
- General Settings
- Characters
- Weapons
- Passive Upgrades
- Weapon Evolutions
- Arenas
- Enemies
- Elite Modifiers
- Bosses
- Difficulties
- Credit Logic
- Gauntlet
- Game Assets
- Challenges
- Achievements
- Leaderboards
- Permanent Progression
- Shop Management
- Ownership and Equipped Items
- Purchase History
- Cosmetic Stat Tuning
- Player Management
- Run History
- Statistics
- Multiplayer
- Maintenance
Swarm includes visual configuration controls throughout the ACP so administrators are not expected to work directly with raw JSON just to manage normal game content.
