Hi @The Wanderer, I’m currently away from my desk.
Please make sure to post any issues or suggestions in the dedicated sections of the support forum. This helps our team track them properly and respond as quickly as possible.

any tips or suggestions on best csv file to use and what is the proper heading structure that the addon expects in the file. great work as always.
Thanks for the kind words! 🙂

You can create a CSV file using Excel, Google Sheets, or any text editor. The importer supports both .csv and .txt files with comma-separated values.

The recommended column headers are:
Code:
event_month,event_day,event_year,title,description,image_url,link_url,category_id,display_order,event_state

Here's a simple example:
Code:
event_month,event_day,event_year,title,description,image_url,link_url,category_id,display_order,event_state
7,20,1969,First Moon Landing,Apollo 11 landed on the Moon,,,1,0,visible
11,9,1989,Fall of the Berlin Wall,The Berlin Wall began to fall,,,2,0,visible

A few useful notes:
  • Month and day: Numeric values (e.g., 7 and 20 for July 20).
  • Year: Optional.
  • Title: Required.
  • Category ID: Must match an existing category on your installation.
  • Image and link URLs: Optional.
  • Display order: Optional, defaults to 0.
  • Event state: Optional, defaults to visible.
The importer also supports automatic header detection, alternative column names, and date normalization. CSV files without headers are supported too, provided the columns follow the expected order.

You can find the importer under Admin CP → On This Day in History → CSV importer, where the expected columns and your available category IDs are displayed.

Imports are processed through a background job with progress information, followed by a summary of imported and skipped rows.

Hope that helps! Feel free to start a ticket if you need any further assistance. 🙂
