XF 3 General Information & Discussion

Out of all the free forum software i've found phpbb to be difficult to navigate and SMF to be easy to navigate.

Oh and don't get me started on proboards! Free and instant software ends up being a scam.

Out of all the pay for license forum software Xenforo is the best one out there. The others need to catch up.

I have used both vBulletin and phpBB. phpBB was a nightmare and it could still be. XenForo is the best, no question, but the unkept promises are driving me and everyone here crazy.

Yeah i can tell that in nearly every post on here.
One thing that i do is experiment on other free forums as well.
Things that don't work on my paid forum which is the xenforo one get changed slightly.
While any questions i have i choose to ask them and they get popular.
I even discuss all the recent stuff on xenforo without being overly negative.
So if you're bored on here start a thread and see what happens in that thread.

I agree with @Mr Lucky that there are no unkept promises. The more as this thread is about XF 3.0 and as far as I remember there has absolutely nothing been announced regarding a possible timeline or release date or its content apart from "new style". So where to you get a broken promise from? Plus: it may drive you crazy, that your expectations have not been fulfilled and possibly a couple of others as well - but surely not
everyone here
Don't take others as hostages for your feelings that they may not share. If you really want another thread going down the drain and ending up locked due to endless off topic moaning about the 2.4 delays that foreseeably escalates to hystery and made up claims (as it did in all the others before that): Here you go. I just can't see an advantage that this would have.

Just use what works best for you today. Buying something based on what it might do someday is silly.

Do I hope my car gets new features via an update? Yes. Am I buying/using that car because of stuff it doesn’t have yet? No.

If you prefer analogys, thats more like the Full Self Driving of Teslas :D
haha exactly... my Model X that I got in 2018 (and paid for FSD at the time) still isn't doing it. But also I never expected it to do anything beyond what it did when I got it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Difference is, Tesla is still shipping new products yearly. And there isn’t much concern about the Tesla company and their roadmap of funding and staying in business. Lots of concerns here, is more of the latter and not wanting to see XF die out as a company.

Tesla doesn't change products yearly... but ya, they are shipping the same products from previous years (same as XenForo).

My point is that regardless of the product, use/buy it (or don't) based on what it does today, not what it might do in the future. If it doesn't suit your needs today, that honestly should be the end of the conversation (at least the one for today).

Great points mate!

I'll add what i'm about to say now to it too.

Those of you who complain about why XF is bad - why are you posting on this software's forum?

There are loads of free forum software you can go to.
I say pick one and experiement with it then migrate it over to xenforo.
It's better than constantly complaining about it.
