XenForo Pre-Purchase Evaluation: Native PWA and iOS Push Notifications?

Hi everyone!

I’m finalizing my evaluation before proposing the purchase of a XenForo license to my client. Regarding server integration and single sign-on (SSO) with the main website, everything is completely clear and my doubts have been resolved, thanks to a few devs who kindly replied to me in private.

My question for the community is about a different aspect: the mobile experience. Do you prefer relying on XenForo 2.x's native PWA system for smartphone push notifications, or would you recommend integrating an external service (like OneSignal)? Are there any known limitations on iOS devices?

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share their advice and suggestions!

Personally I love the PWA. BUT there are a couple things that drive me nuts. 1) Apple has gone out of their way to hide the "Add to home screen" link. 2) when users click an image they get bounced to a full screen with no way out. #2 we've coded a X to close the image 1) #1 I have better suggestion than screen shot every step with red highlights.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, @Seeker-Smith!

That image light-box issue on mobile sounds pretty frustrating—adding a custom close 'X' was definitely a smart workaround. And yeah, guiding iOS users through the 'Add to Home Screen' process is always a bit of a headache!

Really appreciate you sharing those practical quirks, it helps a lot for setting proper expectations with the client!
