Wow, the spin in this thread is unbelievable. I didn’t suggest fake security releases, I was just surprised there are so few. And to address the point of code quality, with software like this it is usually not the forum code that is the issue, it’s something like a bug discovered in the wysiwyg...

This makes sense, and for that reason I like the idea of doing single feature releases (and security releases) rather than big-bang releases that are going to break everything. A single release to replace the editor would have been a great idea... sure some addons may break, but not as many as...

I used SMF in the past and wasn’t impressed, and my users hated it. My issue is when I left phpbb I was advised by some to go xenforo and others to go Invision… Not I am starting to worry I made the wrong choice.

And the frustrating thing is that comms is the easy bit! I get that software development is hard, but professional devs at least have a target in mind, you don’t just say “it’ll be ready when it’s ready”, that smacks of being a hobby project. Something like “we aim to have it done by Q2 2025”...

You replaced the in built search with Google? I think that is what they did on phpbb.com and it’s nasty. Interesting though, as I don’t find the search to be that bad.

What I would do would be refrain from making passive aggressive comments, it’s not helpful! This is all constructive criticism rather than complaining. Yes, xenforo is amazing… but yes it could be better, and certainly the comms could be for sure!

Seems like the Invision guys are eating everyone’s breakfast. They certainly are leading the way, but I came here instead as I don’t trust that they won’t ditch the self hosting option at some point.
