I had the same issue as the OP. I'm on 2.2.17. Enabling two-factor authentication in the Google account, and then setting up and entering an app password into XF, has solved the problem. I much appreciate the solution, and just wanted to confirm that it works, in case this problem crops up...

Does 2.3.0 now require an additional payment as an upgrade? When I try to download it, it is only giving me 2.2.0.

I can confirm that I have seen the push errors increase significantly since the 2.2.15 upgrade. They used to be very rare before that (running XF since March 2019).

Just wanted to report that my forum jut hit 94,000 attempts since I implemented the Spaminator several years ago. If anyone is considering this add-on, I can whole-heartedly tell you that it is amazing and works fully as advertised. Strongly recommended.

What is your definition of a "huge forum?" Can you provide more details about your forum - i.e. the number of posts/threads, the size of the database, and what type of database it is (MySQL, MariaDB, etc.)? Currently running on a hosted platform, or a VPS? All of this would be helpful for...
