what kind of issues were you having? I have restored without hex blob and dont have any issues, unless I'm missing something obvious.

in v1 of this add-on, there used to be a link on the member profile page to gift upgrade to that member. In v2 that link is no longer there, is it possible to add that back on?

just did restore of a db (dumped with utf8mb4) WITHOUT default char set option in import, and it seems to be fine. But I guess its better to use the import char set option just in case?

Thanks for the quick reply. All options for Registered are set to 'No'. Only certain groups and admins are set to yes, admin can see the link to change name, but the other usergroups cannot. Manually going to the link (site/account/change-username) gives no permission error.

having issues with permissions, I enabled it for admin user group and works fine. But it doesnt work when enabled for any other usergroups.

do you have to do anything special to IMPORT a db exported with the utf8mb4 option?
