The forum I own was a result of a VS takeover. A site with a strong community dating all the way back to the late 90s got sold by the original owner very suddenly. Basically, we all found out after the deal was done. Community was pretty shocked to say the least.
Literally that morning...
Yeah I also noticed the email thing. Another friend of mine who hasn't been on a particular forum in over 10yrs (long before the VS takeover) just got one of these update emails.
Anyone know what's going on with VS? While I run my own forum, I'm a member of and monitor a few similar VS forums. Moderation and updates on them have completely stopped. It's wild west. Members posting all kinds of "against the rules" content with no action whatsoever from moderators...
Don't buy this. It's no longer supported. I'm currently looking for a good way to replace it because it hasn't been updated in 2yrs and finally broke with XF 2.3.
Is there a... "how to automate this for dummies" version of this somewhere? Would this be something I'd add to an htaccess file or something along those lines?
While we're waiting on our ticket with the host: I restored the root htaccess file (or rather, the public_html one) to its original state and I've got the WordPress site to load again (no more server error). Still nothing in /forum though.
Problem is I'm just smoothbrain enough to not fully comprehend his solution. I'll go back through the thread again to see what I missed. the /community has indeed been updated to /forum.
