Our server recently got attacked. Some users noticed ads in random places on the site - they were invisible but you could click them. Someone reported it was obscuring their reply button - sneaky!
We found the issue was a modified xenforo.js. The admin cleaned up the server, but it then went...
Pretty sure Moderator Essentials would do what you're looking for.
Without that, though, I personally set up warnings specifically for banning - e.g. "Ban - 1 week" - 100 points, "Ban - 1 month" - 200 points, "Ban - permanent" - 300 points. Then set up corresponding warning actions to issue...
Thanks for pointing that out. We request users write in English, so the language isn't a problem.
I was looking at Similar Threads, but ElasticSearch Essentials seems as though it may be more elegant (albeit more expensive). Thanks for the suggestion!
Ah, that's reassuring! If it's going to sit at that and not really go any higher, we can live with that. Thanks for checking!
Great tip - I'll certainly give that a go when we get it! Thanks again!
That's interesting to know, although we've had complaints about poor quality search results in general. I suspect a lot of that is people using short keywords, but that is sometimes unavoidable (Wii U for example). As Enhanced Search is advertised as allowing "higher quality results" and speed...
I'm an admin on a Xenforo forum. We're preparing to move to a new server and are considering purchasing Enhanced Search.
The server specs are as follows:
Intel Xeon E3-1231 v3 @ 3.40 GHz
8 Gb RAM
256 Gb SSD
CentOS 7
Plesk Onyx 17
Everything is up-to-date. Other than that, I've installed...
We ended up using the code found in the referenced post, but altering the part that goes in:
Admin CP -> Appearance -> Templates -> post
to:
<xen:set var="$messageBeforeTemplate">
<div class="messageMeta" style="background: rgb(13, 86, 166); padding: 9px 20px 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;">...
Having moved from vBulletin 4, our users are requesting a style more like the one we had. I've managed to get it looking pretty similar. As part of this, I added a top border and bottom border to the message container, both of width 25px. They have different colours, and look exactly as they...
We have a shoutbox on our homepage, as a widget. I was shown how to set up a page for a second shoutbox, which works great. I can even restrict it to a certain usergroup, e.g. make a staff room.
The main shoutbox archives to a public forum via the bot user. This does NOT log the staff room...
That's better than nothing - thanks! It would have been good to have been a one-click option that's easily visible, but it'll do! ;)
An automated merge tool would be amazing - although probably too much to ask for. Something that turns this:
into just "mod service thread" - Replies: 6...
This does seem very strange to me, and I find it an issue, too.
It wouldn't be an acceptable solution to just delete 10+ years of PMs, where your users may have had transactions going, given details that they hadn't copied down etc., and just say, "Sorry - they're gone!" - that's...
