If one cannot google your acronym (HYS threads), then it should be spelled out at least once. I also googled "HYS xenforo" and "HYS forum" and its not immediately clear. It's about saving each other time.
They could save us loads of time researching how their software works but instead they leave us unread and let us spin our wheels answering questions they could easily answer.
Another way to solve this is if we can get XF to support some standard protocol that SSO providers use. Then you can use your auth/SSO database for XF and whatever other wiki you want to use. That gives more freedom and robustness. We just need to get a reply from any XF dev here...
Great to hear. If possible, can you point me to where it says there is any standard, spec, or protocol for auth within XF? For example, Invision Community support tells me they're OAuth compliant. Does it make sense that this question is important when doing auth-related integration with XF...
Not getting a single reply on something so basic as a company's documentation when you're trying to integrate with their software is the same as "find[ing] more and more to worry about"? What's with all of these anonymous defenders? This thread is about a simple fricking question and we get...
So? Many of us are wondering what the dev track is between cloud and self-hosted. Will their functionality or code diverge? If they do, then the cloud version getting a lot more development attention might be an issue for the self hosters - considering the amount of dev-related questions are...
I'm not saying they do... Their SSO/auth documentation is about as opaque as XenForo's - but IPB does say it can run IPB in slave mode with an auth system (and that they support Oauth). I would love to use a FOSS solution but none of them have decent UX in my experience. So I'm happy to pay a...
Not sure what the evidence is for that considering IBP let's you use it as a master or slave for SSO. Other competitors as well. I'm not buying that it is so hard to support some basic non-proprietary auth API. Clear benefits of letting their customers integrate with their auth system?
No it is not a impediment - because the point here is to get a meaningful reply from an XF developer, not streamline the web experience and plan across tech giants. PWAs and native apps can both benefit from having open SSO/auth integrations.
Some of us have successful communities of 1000s on...
