Totally agree with this. Was going to ask about this myself. The whole point of large tiles like that are to make things more clickable.

So unlike Xenith style, Material doesn't seem to put form fields on top of a card (usually with white background), but instead is putting them directly onto the page background color, for which we use grey. This is making it harder to read the fields and to see that line (which changes color...
