No it't not possible. Fields like the referrer field, Gender field or any other information field are meant to be filled by the user manually. Urls are used to signal an action in the XenForo system.
I haven't go live with XenForo yet but I've been experimenting with it for some time on my local server. I agree that XenForo worth every cent. It looks cool, it has superior user experience, it is fast and easy to use/extend with a state-of-the-art architecture which results in a high quality...

Thanks for your help :) I noticed these functions but I didn't touched them because I can't understand why setting a hardcoded value works, while the value found in the url doesn't work. Both use $request->setParam. I'll do some experiments with these functions and reply with the results.
