Custom development always costs, as does most of the 3rd party addons of XF. All require an active license of xenforo. Your option of wanting a field on registration may be able to done as easily as adding a field. The "gold" thing one of the several credit addons may suit your purpose.

While not released as of yet, I am waiting on @Bob event addon. I am a big fan of his addons as they are well-thought out, easy to manage and tend to go hand in had with his other addons. If you are willing to wait may want to hold till it comes out especially if you have other addons from him.

What kind of "texts"? If you want to move your articles within AMS to threads there is an option to "convert article to thread" within AMS.
