You are confounding individual exceptions with aggregate experience.
Yes, individual forums can and do thrive. In no way did I intend to impose the same stroke of failure on every forum. But in aggregate? We cannot pretend that every forum is doing better than they were ten years ago. The...
I would like to make the gentle observation that, well, Internet users have overwhelmingly collectively left our forums to social engagement platforms.
Do any of us actually expect XF to overhaul the forum layout to match social engagement? No. But there are clear benefits to personalized...
Some thoughts:
1. What we, as forum admins want, may not be what users want. Forum admins want more traffic, more page views, and therefore more adsense dollars. But visitors want quick, accurate answers (and in that order). No one actually wants to read through 100 meandering pages of forum...
There should be no difference between the data files or Invision self hosted or Invision cloud. You would ask for an export of your database and files.
The only thing you may want to think about is extending your cloud by one month just in case you need more time to test the import to XF.
I don't know who needs to hear this and this is not addressed to any one person, but AI summarization of our posts is already happening at scale. With or without your input.
Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and ChatGPT search are all summarizing our content.

This is one of those ideas that sound great in theory, but very hard to implement in practice.
The fact that XF has a written policy (!) specifically prohibiting crowdfunding inform you about past experiences.

This just started about a day ago.
I wanted to share some observations because I think this topic speaks to a greater paradigm shift in forum ownership and management:
Hosting Administration - This topic, as a whole, is tapering off. There's not much future in trying to engage in conversations around hosting administration...
I'm a little late to the announcement, and I wanted to chime in that I appreciate the transparency and thoughtfulness in making these complicated and dynamic decisions, all of which are changing in real time.
New features are always appreciated and nice, but having a stable and extensible...
There are enterprise solutions like Higher Logic and Salesforce.
What I personally think is a partitioning in the Marketplace and targeting different audience. Some companies are moving upstream (for better or for worse). I appreciate that Xenforo stays as a very affordable solution, with a...
There are fads, and then there are transformative changes that will change society. I think society as a whole is trying to figure out how to incorporate AI in different and useful ways, but the fact that everyone is trying to figure it out should be a sign of how everyone realizes how...
Some observations, and not directed at anyone in particular:
1. Designing for forums vs designing for social media do have fundamental differences. One of the biggest is the social media platforms are usually designed as mobile apps, or for mobile. This means UIX focus on thumb reach, swipe...
