XenSocialize Pro [Paid] [Deleted]

You need to set a callback url as posted by Kintaro...
It's a limitation of xenforo (at least I couldn't do anything about it). The notice will be gone once you go to another page.
Thanks, that sorted that one. Next issue I've got is that Version 2 doesn't seem to be posting threads created by the Feeder to either Facebook or Twitter. The previous version did this perfectly well.

I've checked the permissions of the user that Feeder posts as and it's set to allow use of XenSocialize.

I've also checked the permissions of all the forums and they're also set to use XenSocialise. I've tested this by checking what happens if I post in any of the forums directly and it works fine when I do so.

Any ideas?

Would it be possible to add Preface and Post-FaceText to cattegories, and have the children inherit those settings? This would make things a ton easier to manage with large amounts of forums / sub forums.

Making the "relink" notices dismissable might also avoid users to get annoyed.
Possible, but the number of queries will increase by 2.

Will work on that.

I am guessing the function that I am using for version 2 is not being called when the thread is posted by the feeder... looking into it.

On thread creation only I assume?

An option to disable url shortening and/or specify a bit.ly custom domain / login and api key would also be quite nice.
Yes, but might take a lot of resources if you have too many nodes...

URL shortening only works with Twitter as the URL needs to be shortened to save characters (there's a character limit in twitter as I am sure you'll know).
The custom domain that it uses is 'xens.co' which is a branded domain that will only be used for XenSocialize... you can change the host my editing the 'host' variable of the /library/GFNCoders/XenSocialize/Helper/Bitly.php but would really like it if you don't change it :)

Understood

This hasn't been the case for years, http://blog.twitter.com/2010/06/links-and-twitter-length-shouldnt.html

Right, it's a domain that can expire / be compromised outside of control.

I'm also not super stoked about handing someone control of inbound links, no offense.

Lastly: I also asked about the API key and password, as from my understanding of it: you are given click statistics, ability to delete/change urls and so forth.

I don't understand why you want any of that information to begin with.

I am actually a little confused there...

There's a pretty low (I mean low low low) chance that that'll happen...

I don't see any problem, since I am not manipulating anything...

I don't need any information... and frankly, I don't remember the login details of that account :P
I just wanted to make it less painful to configure XenSocialize and skipped Bit.ly because:
  • You can check the statistics from Google Analytics (if you don't have one, then I guess you don't bother about stats ;) )
  • There's a pretty low chance you will ever edit or delete the link

Lastly, if you worry that much, you can edit everything in the Bitly class, nothing is hard-coded...

I can in hindsight see how what I said could come of as a little harsh, my apologies there.

I understand you wanted to make it as seamless as possible, editing the short url class does work. Simply slightly less elegant than having an option to set the api key / username, but it works.

I will be adding the options in the next release...

for some reaons it has stopped updating our FB page wall when new threads are created :(

anyone facing this?

I have several forums that I have selected within 'Mass Disable Forums' (via /admin.php?xensocialize/) but for which social posts are still being made from topics/posts within these forums.

Are the posts being posted on your site's fan page or the user's profile page?

a little problem here if the title of the thread is something like:

Goodbye "Lucas"

then on Facebook will be posted like:

Goodbye "Lucas"

another thing:
the xens.co service... is it possible that in case of the worst scenario (finger crossed) that service will be down? :( Is it possible to have the possibility to choose to using also a "robust" alternative service?

Same with the ampsersand(&) being shown as "Laws, Government & Insurance" in both topic titles and forum/node names.

When I make a post it posts to my wall and not to the page even though I have Page selected as well as the page ID. Am I doing something wrong? My username is associated with my Facebook account. Would this be the reason it's posting on the wall and not on the page?
