After another round of bug fixes and feature implementations following user feedback, the time has come to release the third beta version of XenForo 1.1.0. Lots of bugs have been fixed in Beta 3, and there are a selection of new features too, all of which have come directly from suggestions and feedback made by customers here on XenForo.com. While there have been a huge number of tweaks and improvements throughout the system, we've listed a few that might spark your interest below. We recommend that all customers running previous 1.1 beta versions now upgrade to Beta 3. All licensed customers may now download the new version from the customer area. This is Beta Software Please remember that this is beta software. It contains known bugs and incomplete functionality. We do not recommend running beta software in a production environment, and support is limited at this time to questions here on the community forums. If you choose to run beta software, it is your responsibility to ensure that you make a backup of your data. We recommend you do this before attempting an upgrade. Installation and Upgrade Instructions Full details for how to install and upgrade XenForo can be found in the XenForo Manual.
Warning System Changes The warning system has been updated to allow the following new features: Ability to send a 'locked' conversation to the user being warned, so they can not reply Ability to allow the warning conversation recipient to add extra participants to the conversation, or not Ability to delete the content for which the user is being warned, rather than posting a public warning The warning form has also been divided into separate tabs, to make it easier to manage. Apologies to those being warned in these screenshots - your posts were just in the right place at the right time!
Global RSS Feed There is now a global RSS feed covering all forums. It is accessible via the <link rel="alternate" ... /> tag in the <head> of the forum list page.
Date Criteria The criteria system now has the ability to match the current date and time. It's possible to use just date or just time in order to create a periodic or repeating criteria. Options for 'date is after' and 'date is before' are provided. These abilities extend to Notices, Trophies and User Group Promotions.
Criteria Based on Custom User Fields The criteria system can now match the values in users' custom fields, allowing far more flexibility than previously available. This ability extends to Notices, Trophies and User Group Promotions.
Maximum Messages Criteria The criteria system can now check the maximum number of messages posted by a member. This pairs with the existing minimum messages criteria.
Templates as Files For those who want the ultimate in performance, it's now possible to have the XenForo front-end fetch its templates directly from the file system, rather than the database. This allows opcode caches such as APC and XCache to speed up the template rendering process. Templates fetched as files can still be edited with the admin control panel template editor, or via WebDAV as before. Note that to be of benefit, you must have an opcode cache (ACP, XCache, eAccelerator etc.) installed on your server. Edit: 'not possible' corrected to 'now possible'.
Warn and Ignore on Member Profile Page For users with the appropriate privileges, 'Warn' and 'Ignore / Unignore' links have been added to the member profile page.
Admin Control Panel Navigation Updated Some features have been moved around in the Admin Control Panel in order to be a little more logical. For example, Notices now appear under the 'Home' tab, and Spam Cleaner Logs appear with the other log types under the 'Tools' tab. If you can't find what you're looking for, use the Admin Control Panel Search!
Banned Member Profiles Hidden The member profile pages of banned users and users awaiting moderation or email confirmation are no longer visible to regular visitors, as an anti-link-spam measure.
Search Index Single-Content Type Rebuild It's now possible to instruct the search index rebuild process to work on a single content type only, meaning that you no longer have to do unnecessary work to rebuild indexes that are already complete.
