As designed Quote and Reply links must be present for Quote Selected to work

This is not a direct bug, but limits you in some way.
I wanted to test the option of removing the +Quote and Reply buttons from the template, and only allow to quote by selecting the required text.
Apparently this is not possible, +Quote and Reply must be present in the template for the Quote Selected to work. I believe it clones them into the tooltip.

It does clone them. It also uses them to indicate whether you can reply to the post. So this is expected.
