CODForums experiencing growth.

I don't think I want to delete and re-add. Thought there might be a way to delete specific links.

I used Webmaster Tools years ago. There is an option to do that, remove URL's from Google Search using it. But it's really just a faster way of doing it, rather than waiting for Google Search itself to de-index them which takes longer. Think there's a section showing you reports of broken links detected and more in Webmaster Tools, might be under site errors or something, can't remember now. That's how you can spot URL that need removing from GS though, as far I can think back anyway when using it with a large HTML website.

This is just in the course of a week, yes? Pretty decent for a COD site.
Try a month. ;)

The growth took place starting April 4th.

This is just scratching the surface, because starting April 28th, we're going to see more and more Black Ops 2 news:

April 28th - Reveal Trailer (Maybe)
May 2nd - Info Galore (Confirmed)
May 9th - Activision Investor Call (Confirmed)

Yeah! But what about in 6 months time when people have become pretty bored with that game, they've played it to death! And as a result stop posting on forums covering it. I often wonder why people run forums around a game, it seems too short lived a thing for me, your lucky if any game is still popular with people 6 months on these days, making them not good for covering with a forum.

Not trying to funny or anything, just that your creating forums with a "short interest" life span. I used to be a member of some gaming forums years ago. I joined JOLT forums that covered FreeLancer and ran their own gaming servers I played on, don't think they are even around anymore.

You do realize that niche blogs or forums are money makers, right? MW3Blog gathered 100,000 unique visitors. I can't do that with my general gaming blog! O_O

And besides, the domain 'codforums.com' is about 10 years old. I bought CODForums in 2010, then completed the acquisition in early 2011.

I'm surprised my stats did not shut you up. lol. :ROFLMAO: MW3 traffic to CODForums was maintained up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down. I was expecting it to die off like MW3Blog is currently. Not even the new DLCs are saving MW3.

And I don't think it's just that COD is making people bored of the franchise. The problem is that the engine - People are still cheating, people are lagswitching, people are glitching on xbox, and so on and on. That's Activision's fault for not building a new engine.

I'm surprised that CODForums kept a steady traffic. I have xenForo to thank for that.

The first person shooter niche is a strong genre, has been for years now. 10 years later, the genre is still a strong niche. Not even those dance/instrument games can maintain the same kind of niche.

@Carlos - bravo on upkeeping that stuff...

I myself am having trouble with Herocraftonline ranking... the whole SEO and keywords confuse me quite a bit. =/

Okay. I have some time to look at your site and give my thoughts.

I'm going to start off with your twitter here...

You keep linking to just the mainpage of your site. You need to stop that, it comes off as spamming. Once in a while is fine, but anything above 2 in a single day will reek of spam vibe.

I don't like the way you're advertising your content, either. You're not linking to your site properly: I see that you're linking to your stumbleupon url. While it's great that you're putting some kind of focus on stumble upon; you seem to be doing it just to your site's mainpage. You need to stumble your own posts.

Those threads you have on your site are great ways to bring traffic to your site. Your SEO isn't dependent soley on your mainpage's pagerank. Instead, it's your overall forum's domain - you need to focus on attracting your visitors with these "news" about your minecraft server and/or minecraft news. Your members have tips, tricks, feedback and all that stuff, so use those threads to advertise your site.

With twitter, you need to communicate with your users, I have learned this the hard way. So, now my posts are like a sentence with a link and another comment embedded. Like this:

Here's DLC news:
4th #ModernWarfare3 DLC rushes to Xbox Live http://www.codforums.com/threads/4th-mw3-dlc-rushes-to-xbox-live.1551/ More #MW3 fun! To get the #DLC, you need a #CODElite premium account!
Here's milestone news:
CODForums reaches a new milestone! 5,000 posts! http://www.codforums.com/threads/5-000-posts.1568/ Here's to 10,000! Thanks to all!
Here's a clever way to announce something related to CODForums:
Added a few new categories to Call of Duty Forums @CoDForums http://www.codforums.com/ They are #CallofDuty #Rumors and #CODBlackOps2
I used to do this:
Some of your twitter posts has some posts that are full of hashtags.

Now, looking at your google+ page, first question to myself "If he's doing exactly what I suggested for twitter, why is he doing it on google?"

Your posts on google+ is better than the ones on twitter. That's a 360 degree difference in there. Also, Google+ uses hashtags like twitter. The difference between the two is the length of posts.

Facebook doesn't really have hashtags, so you're going to have to target the minecraft players with simply keywords. Soon Facebook is going to launch their own search engine.

Yes, Treyarch is the developers of Blops. We don't know the name of the next Call of Duty game, but all leaks are currently pointing to Black Ops 2, so if that's the case, it's Treyarch.

Thanks. :D

Thanks much :) I appreciate the feedback - I am relatively new to the rankings and this helps me a great deal!

Congrats on your site :)

With regard to the google webmaster tools thingy, it says to copy the metatag to your website header.

Did you physically add it to a file or did you add it into one of your theme templates?

Any info on that would be great :)

Uploaded a file to the server and voila, no "metatag" required. :D Ah, I love google's numerous choices.

I didn't have to [re-]add it each time I upgraded xenForo. ;)
It's a shame about blops2...but congratz with your site.
Thanks! :D I'm guessing you didn't like Black Ops 2?

It's not that I don't like it, it is just that it was really disappointing. Treyarch usually makes the best CODs but this one feels like there is so much wrong with it. Hopefully they can fix it, but that won't happen without a massive update.

The only problems I have with it are just lag, and the freezing (I'm a PS3 owner).

It's been a month since BO2's launch, aaaaaaannnnnnnnnnddd kaboom!

This year is looking really bright for me! :) I already have 2 plans in the frying pan.

Well that's clear evidence that moving to XenForo has done no harm to your website. Even though there are other important factors positively influencing your traffic.
