Advanced Bb Codes Pack

Advanced Bb Codes Pack [Paid] 1.14.8

No permission to buy ($35.00)
@Oblivion Knight XF2.2+ natively supports multiple options (the bb-code editor support uses this!), and this addon actually supports multiple options with a legacy format for XF2.0/XF2.1

I must have missed that change.. how on earth did I do that! 😱

Thanks Xon.

--EDIT--
It appeared to be slightly more technical than I envisaged on getting with my own custom BBcodes, but I've managed!

--EDIT 2--
I uninstalled the add-on noted above expecting the staff BBcodes to work again.. and they're not. Any suggestions? 😅

Hi again, hope you are doing well.

One of our members has recently reported that she cannot get the [SLIDER] tag to work properly when it is inside [SLIDE] tags.

Here's what the code looks like:

Screenshot 2024-04-08 at 4.10.37 PM.webp

But when saving the changes, it ends up with just the last slide showing (in this case, Content 3), with no way of getting to the other content (arrows don't work):

Would you know of how to resolve that? Thank you :)

I strongly recommend using raw bb-code mode, and ensuring there isn't any invisible formatting; as nested sliders do work.

Hi @Xon

First of all, thank you for this add-on. It looks very nice and the visualisation of the content is very important for me. I have three questions for you.
  1. Can I customise the BBCode styles and if possible, how?
  2. In the future, if for some reason this add-on does not work, if I uninstall it or if the add-on support ends, how will the content using BBCode look like?
  3. Can you add a screenshot from the editor? Can these BBCodes be easily added from the editor? If direct code is used, there are many users who are not familiar with these codes and this may make it difficult to use.
Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi @Xon

First of all, thank you for this add-on. It looks very nice and the visualisation of the content is very important for me. I have three questions for you.
  1. Can I customise the BBCode styles and if possible, how?
The add-on ships with a large number of style properties, and practically all of the bb-codes are rendered via the XF template system (sv_bbcode_ generally these templates) instead of via hard-coded html/css output.

  1. In the future, if for some reason this add-on does not work, if I uninstall it or if the add-on support ends, how will the content using BBCode look like?
The bb-code's don't remove information (aka the media bb-code tag), so if you remove the bb-code then the raw bb-code and content will be left. The content will not render in a great way, but it will retain formatting for what bb-code is still around.

  1. Can you add a screenshot from the editor? Can these BBCodes be easily added from the editor? If direct code is used, there are many users who are not familiar with these codes and this may make it difficult to use.
I'ld recommend having a look at the editor on my site; https://atelieraphelion.com/

It has most of the bb-codes enabled in the editor.

Not a total dealbreaker but somewhat annoying: Since I installed this add on recently I've some unexpected side effects in the normal Editior (not raw BB-mode), it seems to partly break the WYSIWYG editor:

• when I copy/paste text snippets (even the smalles ones) from websites there is often addional layout-bb-code added along with the text that I did not intend to copy or use like i.e. a
Code:
[center][/center]
tag around the text in
• this BB code ist displayed in the WYSIWYG Editor as BB-Code, not with what it actually does (which is somewhat annoying) and - as I do not want it anyway - I have do manually delete it. Which is totally annoying as it is an extra step that should not be necessary.
• when I edit an existing post (that was written before installing the plugin) there are often added headline codes like
Code:
[h2][/h2]
around extisting headlines in WYSIWYG mode while the headline is already there and displayed as such.
• also, sometimes headlines are not displayed as headlines in WYSIWYG mode but with the headline tags, looks like this (this is the WYSIWYG editor and before installing this plugin the headlines were displayed as headlines):

Bildschirmfoto 2024-05-26 um 08.59.49.webp
• sometimes additional headline tags (that were not there before) are added above existing headlines and displayed in the saved post as raw BB code, which clearly should not be the case. Looks like that:

Bildschirmfoto 2024-05-26 um 08.59.26.webp
(this is NOT in edit mode but the published post view)

All of these issues show up when editing posts that were written before this addon was installed. I did not actively use the possiblities of the addon yet, so no experience what it does when creating new posts. Bought it mostly because of sliders, latex and accordion (though for the latter I use a free addon for quite some time that works well w/o issues) which I intended to use in certain situations in future. I installed the addon silently not long ago, no user seems to have recognized or used it yet. Because of the named negative side effects I think about deactivating or uninstalling it - which is a bit of a shame as it is not a cheap addon.

I am running XF 2.2.15, so nothing to do with incompatiblities with 2.3

I really need samples of the html you are copy & pasting, and the raw bb-code that is causing editor issues.

Screenshots just don't carry enough information to reliably reproduce all editor issues

To get the raw bb-code/html;
  • Edit the post in question, switch to bb-code mode, and then refresh the page and edit the post again. This will load the raw-bb-code without trying to convert it to html => bbcode
  • Use the "editor playground" (Account Details => Editor playground, or /account/editor-playground). And check "Show raw copy and paste output", then copy & paste the problematic text into it. Then copy the raw html it outputs.
I'ld recommend opening a ticket, and attaching the requested information. This will take a little debugging as I'll also need to know which bb-codes are active and any other 3rd party addons.
