    VBulletin?

I agree. In the aforementioned thread, you can click on my profile and find the straw that broke the camel's back. But let's be careful not to derail this thread with grievances. Xenforo is absolutely worth the migration. I found a few design behaviors that require a different mindset...

    VBulletin?

We also moved from VB5 last year. It was a breath of fresh air. VB as a platform appears to be on life support. No major user-experience updates have been made in years, and none are planned.

    XF 2.2 VBulletin5 url redirect with old vbulletin4 id's

Thanks! The company that makes UBBThreads is alive and well, and upgrading to their latest 7.7.x was a journey I embarked on last year. :) I have offsite backups of the older database, so a conversion is possible. The eventual goal is to merge the data, but for now, this is our best approach...

    XF 2.2 VBulletin5 url redirect with old vbulletin4 id's

Hi Herbert- thank you! I agree, a local forwarding script is my backup option. I consider this a bug, and am hoping to identify a fix that the dev team can clean up and publish. Although this thread hasn't seen much traction, I suspect this will be a problem for many 'up-and-coming'...

    XF 2.2 VBulletin5 url redirect with old vbulletin4 id's

Ok, I have a partial design solution for this built. I exported the vbulletin4 id's from the vbulletin node table as follows: select oldcontenttype.class, nodeid, oldid from node join contenttype as oldcontenttype ON (oldcontenttype.contenttypeid = node.oldcontenttypeid) where...

XF 2.2 partial import from UBBThreads export

Watching. We stood up a separate read-only "archive forum" that is a UBBThreads 7.7 instance. That's another option you may have. It is very low maintenance, since we disallow new users and disallow new posts. This solution works for us now, but it would be nice to integrate the data.

    XF 2.2 VBulletin5 url redirect with old vbulletin4 id's

This issue is important to us because our forum was most active when it was on vb4. The majority of our links use this old id. I have a solution design proposal. However, it would be best to involve xenforo development, as it requires changes to both the vbulletin5 import script and the...

Not a bug vB 4.2.x import permissions?

I like the Xenforo permission inheritance better, but it required a change in mindset. I wrote these notes as I documented my migration. Hoping it helps to understand the differences in behavior: simple examples of "clean up the node permissions for each usergroup":

    XF 2.2 VBulletin5 url redirect with old vbulletin4 id's

We are upgraded to 227 patch 1 as of this afternoon (after I sorted out backup cron jobs), but for the initial install I used the known stable version that I had been testing. There is no difference in the redirect behavior.

    XF 2.2 VBulletin5 url redirect with old vbulletin4 id's

Hi all, hoping someone has seen this before. I installed Xenforo yesterday and am very very happy. We have nearly everything working except for very old links that predate our vb5 installation. Installation: Xenforo 2.2.6 Plugins: Xenforo Importers 1.5.0; Xenforo Redirects for VBulletin...

XF 2.2 Node permissions question - "No" is behaving like "Never"?

I may have answered my own question while configuring a more complex node group. This permission only got flipped to YES after I explicitly set a usergroup to YES for that node. So I think it sounds like: YES supersedes NO NEVER supersedes YES NO supersedes INHERIT In retrospect...

XF 2.2 Node permissions question - "No" is behaving like "Never"?

I'm setting up a new Xenforo forum (imported from VBulletin) and hoping you can help me wrap my head around this. This is the Analyze Permissions result for a given user for a given node called "General Discussions". My understanding of permission hierarchy is that YES supercedes NO, and...

XF 2.2 vbulletin "New User" behaviors

Hah, yes! That fits our needs perfectly. I will take a look at the rest of your site, although, we have not been considering add-ons quite yet. Thanks @AndyB.

XF 2.2 vbulletin "New User" behaviors

Many thanks Brogan. :) I was hoping there was some permission sets for user metadata (like post counts or trophies). This use case has worked well for us for years, but I will reconsider it before creating a separate usergroup for this small need.
