XenForo 1.2.0 Beta 2 and 3 Released (Unsupported)

XenForo 1.2.0 Beta 2 is now available to all customers with active licenses. This release focuses on fixing bugs, conflicts, and usability issues discovered since the release of XenForo 1.2.0 Beta 1.

This is beta software. It is not officially supported. We do not recommend running it in production.

Please remember that this is beta software. It contains known bugs and incomplete functionality. We do not recommend running beta software in a production environment, and support is limited at this time to questions here on the community forums.

Expect many add-ons and styles to be broken after upgrading to 1.2. You must test your add-ons thoroughly or look for updates. Be especially careful with add-ons that cover similar features to ones that are added to 1.2; these may conflict with the core XenForo data. If data conflicts are found, they will need to be resolved in a new add-on release or by removing the add-on before upgrading to 1.2.

If you choose to run beta software, it is your responsibility to ensure that you make a backup of your data. We recommend you do this before attempting an upgrade.

For Add-on Developers

There are several changes from 1.2.0 Beta 1 that may affect add-on developers:
  1. Some fields were inconsistently treated as case insensitive when they were actually case sensitive. This includes template names, phrases titles, and other string-based identifiers. These are now case sensitive in the database in 1.2.0 Beta 2.
  2. The built-in template modification system's add-on XML tag has changed between Beta 1 and Beta 2. All add-on developers who have released an add-on using this should re-export the add-on after upgrading (and release the updated XML obviously :)).
  3. Handlers specified in content types created by your add-on are now disabled when your add-on is disabled. As a side effect, if your content types are actually associated with the wrong addon_id, they will no longer run.
Installation and Upgrade Instructions

It is highly recommended that you back up your XenForo database and files before you attempt to upgrade. This is doubly important if you have ever installed add-ons that may create conflicts.

Full details for how to install and upgrade XenForo can be found in the XenForo Manual.

All customers with active licenses may download XenForo 1.2 Beta 2 from their customer area.

As of this message, 1.2.0 Beta 3 has been released as well. This fixes an issue discovered in Beta 2 that incorrectly tagged many phrases as being updated in the incorrect version. The install data order was also changed to return to the Beta 1 order. These changes have been pushed out in a quick release mostly to make translators' lives easier.

We recommend anyone running any version of 1.2 upgrade to Beta 3.
