XF 1.3 The Strangest Thing! Error Creating a New Post

Do you need to paste it to notepad or another editor to removed the facebook formatting / code?

    Delete Posts

Tim, check your admin permission or maybe as Andy mentioned - Requires copying library/Andy/DeletePosts folder to server and upgrading the XML file. I forgot about a test board and after upgrading it to 1.4.2 on a fairly default board we used the mod to delete posts from a few spammers with...

    XF 1.4 1.4.1 upgrade issue

Mike- Okay we will have a look in depth. The issue doesn't surface until 40-50 of these queries are running at the same time and MySQL is using 1200% CPU. There is virtually no disk I/O and the forum had been running well before. We'll test some other theories but we're running out of options at...

    XF 1.4 1.4.1 upgrade issue

Hello, The only difference in our question is what was changed between 1.3.6 and 1.4.x that could also introduce these queries? Also can you help validate that the queries that are hanging are XF only queries? (in the previous screenshot)

    XF 1.4 1.4.1 upgrade issue

Hello, Also as a correction the issue started after an upgrade from 1.3.6 to 1.4.0. Can you please let us know of any substantial query changes and also update us on our previous post?

    XF 1.4 xf_session never removed

MattW- Thanks that makes sense now. The page https://xenforo.com/help/cache/ mentioned this config variable but it wasn't clear if this was set to true if the file cache would be used or just the cache defined in the config. Thanks for all of your help!

    XF 1.4 1.4.1 upgrade issue

Hello, We've done quite a bit of sleuthing so far and found that there appears to be "bursts" of slow queries which are in sorting state. These queries do not appear to be hitting disk and do not appear to be caused by an attack. The queries run long because there is 50+ when looking at the...

    XF 1.4 xf_session never removed

Hello, The variable is not defined by default, we haven't set $config['cache']['cacheSessions'] to true manually , we just enabled memcache as outlined here: https://xenforo.com/help/cache/ Should we try to force the variable above to false? There's 600,000 entries in the session table since...

    XF 1.4 1.4.1 upgrade issue

Chris/Mike- Thanks for the information. We're actively tuning the MySQL configuration as well. The installation had been performing well and we had not made any changes before the upgrade. We'll update you within 24 hours on the status of our tuning efforts.

    XF 1.4 xf_session never removed

Mike- Is there some way to tell why the sessions would not be cleaned up? We've verified the cron daily and hourly cleanup jobs are enabled and running.

    XF 1.4 1.4.1 upgrade issue

Mike- xf_bb_code_parse_cache came up quite a bit as the server was performing quite a few inserts against this table all at once. While this is most likely not the culprit, should this table have 8.3 million records or is there an option we can use to scale this back for testing?

    XF 1.4 1.4.1 upgrade issue

Mike- Was there any substantial query changes between 1.4.0 and 1.4.2? The only major changes were the upgrade of the XF suite. We understand that the high load is a factor in the queries running for a long time, but there are many queries we haven't noticed before and generally very low disk...

    XF 1.4 xf_session never removed

Mike, That makes sense. Enabling memcache definitely alters the way sessions are handled but why would xf_session be populated with data even with memcache enabled? The table continues to grow. Please let us know if there is anything else we can check as all the cron entries look good etc.

Fixed User online feature degrading database performance

We've also been noticing xf_session_activity showing lots of "waiting for table lock" after this update. We noticed that this table is a MEMORY table type but it's not clear if there is anything else we can do to speed up the queries. Is there anyone else seeing some table-level locking issues...
