Seems that my problem is solved. I replaced the parameter ?install with ?upgrade, as Floris mentioned here. Great, now I have to check out the new features. :)
I tried it again today, but without any success. I restored my old 1.0.4 files first and verified that forums are working fine. After that, I uploaded the upgrade files according to the documentation (http://xenforo.com/help/upgrades/). When I invoke the install link, I don´t get any upgrade...
I decided to upgrade my stable version 1.0.4 to the latest beta version, however I am not sure if I am performing really an upgrade instead of a new installation.
What I did so far:
1. I have uploaded all files according to the INSTALL-UPGRADE file
2. Directory permissions are set properly...

I have successfully installed my XenForo copy, and actually I am creating new threads in my forum. However, when I try to create a new posting with copy & paste from one of my blogs I get the following error message:

Well, to be more specific: I own a shop and want to use xF to publish announcements, article reviews and unique content who does not appear on my other blogs. This seems to be much more conveniant than with a traditional CMS like Drupal.
