As of this year, Google’s Android platform has the global lead with 61% of the smartphone market, followed by Apple with 20.5%, RIM at 6% and Windows Mobile at 5.2%, according to IDC.
By 2016, IDC sees Android at 52.9%, Windows Mobile at 19.2%, Apple at 19% and RIM down just a tenth of a percentage point to 5.9%.
... This could be true. But it's going to take a "near Miracle" for WinMo. It'll require Microsoft to take *MASSIVE* hits financially essentially taking huge loses on every hardware sold. And a miracle. I'd like to hear the research that went into this prediction.
