OK, I feel really dumb. I am utterly confounded by the number of OpenJDK versions there are. I read a post on another forum where someone stated that Elasticsearch 8 requires Java 17 or later for a certain feature so I thought I'd check my Java version:
I'm running AlmaLinux 8.
It looks like there are a ton of OpenJDK versions. How (or should?) I upgrade my Java JDK? Things seem to be running fine but I'm baffled by the number of releases and have no idea whether I should change my Java version and to what version.[/code]
Code:
openjdk version "11.0.25" 2024-10-15 LTS
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (Red_Hat-11.0.25.0.9-1) (build 11.0.25+9-LTS)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (Red_Hat-11.0.25.0.9-1) (build 11.0.25+9-LTS, mixed mode, sharing)
I'm running AlmaLinux 8.
