TNG coming to blu-ray

When released I'll be purchasing. Any news or even plans to make the conversion over to hd for voyager? If not, make it so *points* engage.

If they are planning on doing it for Voyager, Paramount hasn't announced it yet.

With TNG they will first be releasing a few episodes in a bundle that have been converted and then later will release the entire series.
 
Trek trivia... the varon-t disruptor was seen in one Voyager episode. Only the prop was used. They never actually called it a varon-t. Of course the varon-t doesn't exist in the delta quadrant.

I loved TNG - it was my start to Star Trek. And as I love the work of CBS and Okuda did on TNG I think this will be great for TNG.

Make it so!
 
I'm currently making my way through Voyager on Sky Atlantic, watched from S1E1 through to S7E6 over the past few months. Nearly at the end!

Unfortunately the Sky box lost its series link last week, so I've missed 4 episodes I think :(

I wonder if they're going to start reshowing DS9, that's the series I've missed most of the episodes of thanks to it coinciding with work when I was a student.

Just last week I finished watching all of Enterprise.

I would realy like a new trek series, they all ended too soon :(

DS9 was decent. But that is when star trek started becoming more mainstream, more general audience, less "star trek." It was a transitional period, as was Voyager. The 5th series and ST2009 were post-transition, and you saw how awful those were. Thinking has been replaced with fighting. Character development and diversity is no longer required. Cohesive plots have been replaced with mindless special effects and nonsensical plot devices to serve those effects. The overarching themes of wonder, awe, and hope at exploring the unknowns of space are gone. Star trek no longer inspires, it entertains.

Thank god he is getting back to Roddenberry's original vision. And I am very happy to see him reject the alternate timeline in ST2009.
 
TNG is my favorite Star Trek.

Honestly, I did not like Voyager. It was a good show, but Captain Janeway is by far the worst of all the captains. Its something I noticed, but women who like Star Trek (no offense Shelly), often think that Janeway is the best captain... most likely because she was a woman and they are supporting their sex. =P

That being said, my problem with Janeway is the fact that she was a terrible leader. In one episode, the Voyager crew could stumble accross a neolithic civilization being oppressed by another, and Janeway will spout off the prime directive and non-interference. Then in the direct next episode, the exact same thing will happen and Janeway will go all gung-ho "**** the prime directive!".

She flip flops and can't stand by her decisions. Hell, her indecisiveness is the reason why Voyager is stuck in the delta quadrant in the first place. Every civilization Voyager makes contact with, ends up destroyed by the end. Naturally, this isn't Kate Mulgrew's fault, she is a great actress. But this is the fault of bad writing.

To be fair, Picard violated the prime directive a few times. Though it was something her never took lightly. It was always used as a device to spur moral debate.
